Eliza Dushku stars as Echo who belongs to a group called “Dolls” or “Actives”. The Actives or Dolls are people whose persona had been erased in the memories of the outside world. Their memories and real personality are erased but different combinations of persona like language and skills, muscle memory and its sharpness are still embedded depending on the engagements they are needed to perform.

The personalities are embedded in different people, and the flaws and strengths are also included in their personalities. The Dolls have specific assignments on which they are asked to perform, they are asked to work on good deeds, crimes and even fantasies depending on the assignments.

The Handlers monitor the actives closely, and internally. Their minds are wiped in a state of futuristic laboratory/dormitory. They have a place called Dollhouse in Los Angeles. The Rossum Corporation is the research entity taking care of the study, making use of the Actives or Dolls. The story centralizes on the story of Echo, who started off in a mind-wiped state and later on becomes self aware of herself when she was activated.

The Doll house has several employees and two other “Actives” or “Dolls” They are Victor and Sierra, who take Echo as their friend. Actives known as a phonetic of an alphabet, the people who joined this project like Echo, Sierra and Victor are volunteers for 5 years! Their illegal activities are not known to the government and constantly near end because of Paul Ballard, Paul Ballard, who got to know about the experiment form Alpha, a crazy Active rogue.
