Fran Kranz – Dollhouse star – has landed a role on Friends With Benefits (NBC Comedy pilot), as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. This single-camera project is written by Michael Weber and Scott Neustadier – writers of (500) Days of Summer, and directed by David Dobkin – known for Wedding Crashers.

The pilot showcases five friends on a search for love via various means, but eventually settling for “friends with benefits” in the meantime. Kranz plays one of the group: a nerdy, hopeless romantic who is worth around $12 million after selling an algorithm to software giant, Google.

Fox comedy Traffic Light recruited Alexandra Breckenridge while Friday Night Light stars Adrianne Palicki and Bryce Johnson have been added to the drama series Midland.
